Stylets (obturators) are soft plastic inserts that fill the lumen of the catheter, preventing clot formation in static catheters without the need to cap and flush.  They are available for all sizes except 26G x 19mm and 14G x 70mm.

Each size fits the corresponding “T” and “1” catheter hubs and suits both Delta Ven (Teflon) and Neo Delta Ven (polyurethane) catheter types.  We can also supply stylets to fit the “2” catheter hub.

Their main indication is for frequent blood sampling from peripheral sites as blood samples collected are pure, and there is no wastage of collected blood.  They also offer other benefits over the normal ‘cap & flush’ method of keeping catheters patent:
